This is a crystal vase of the 80s of the USSR that I got from my late grandmother. Who lived in the USSR. It was carefully kept in a closet in memory of her and was taken. Out only on New Year's Eve to decorate the festive table. Whatever was the style of the Soviet Baroque in the architectural sense, in terms of everyday life, it was embodied in crystal. An absolute must have for any Soviet family is a sideboard with shelves filled with crystal gizmos. In the center of the composition, as a rule, there was a vase - heavy, with thick carved walls, falling on the edges of which, sunlight reflected, refracted and sparkled, as if it had reacted with a diamond. There is probably no need to remind that the best gift (except for a book, of course) in those days was crystal. Massive vases were given on special occasions - for a wedding, in honor of a solid anniversary or seeing off to retirement. Smaller vases, but also richly decorated, were a popular gift for schoolteachers from grateful parents.
