Line Cut Crystal Glass Sculpture, Vase 3512, Tapio Wirkkala, 1950 Art Iittala

  

One of early cut glass works from Tapio Wirkkala. Manufactured in Iittala glass factory.

Wirkkala started the early line cut series in 1947 with his famous Chantarelle. He designed numerous small and large object through-out 1950's.

I believe this to be one of his more rare line cut pieces. Stands 13 cm (5") tall with a diameter of 11 cm (4'25"). Signed on the bottom "Tapio Wirkkala Iittala". No glass sickness, no cracks or chips.
