Karl Palda Art Deco Geometric Bohemian Enamel Cut Crystal Vase Bergdorf Goodman
This fabulous geometric, faceted glass vase, so absolutely of its period, was produced by the the great Czechoslovakian glass maker, Karl Palda in about 1920. It is asymetric in cross-section which is also typical of this period and it is decorated in dramatic Art Deco style with engraving, enamelling and acid etching. There are no sharp edges as this first quality piece has bevilled corners and slightly bevilled vertical edges. Palda had founded his firm in Novy Bor in 1888 and he co-operated closely with the glass schools and other glass exporters in the neighbourhood. His aim was the pursuit of excellence and he achieved that.
This square vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. It stands 7 5/8 tall, is 4 1/4 wide and 2 1/4 deep. Beautiful saturated garnet red color.
