Antique Hawkes Brilliant Cut Crystal Bud Vase

  

This antique brilliant cut crystal vase is by Hawkes. Hawkes cut glass was made by T. Hawkes & Company of Corning, New York, and was founded in 1880. Hawkes and Frederick Carder founded Steuben Glass Works. The Steuben Company originated its name from Steuben County, the county Corning, New York, is located!

This crystal bud vase measures approximately 6-½ in overall height. The diameter of the rim measures approximately 1-7/8 in diameter with the vase opening measures approximately 1-1/8 in diameter. The overall body diameter measures approximately 4-½, and the base bottom measures approximately 2-5/8 in diameter. The rim, surface decorated octagonal neck, and the beautifully cut rounded base of this Hawkes bud vase appear to be in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or chigger bite dings are noted. There are surface scratch lines noted on the underside base. The upright held vase appears clear from clouding until approximately ¼ from the base. This base clouding is also noted when placing the vase upside down, and the slight clouding is viewed through the bottom of the base. The Hawkes company has carried a brilliant and well-respected reputation, and the cut glass pieces produced will continue to be highly sought!
