Magnificent 19th Century ruby cut to clear glass vase with a top edge cut in points and an incredibly detailed engraved pattern of grapes, vines, leaves, and tendrils. The engraving is so detailed the veining shows on each leaf, each grape in each bunch is individually cut, and the vines are three dimensional with a rope like texture. Can't even imagine the amount of time someone spent engraving this beauty.
This vase is made in two pieces. The top portion is appx. The bottom is also appx 6 1/4. The pieces join under the top knop.
The scale of the vase is impressive (12 1/2 tall and weighing in at 4 pounds) and the engraving is magnificent. No idea of maker or age. Our guesstimate is that this vase was made circa 1860's. Note: This vase was very difficult to photograph.
Our pictures don't begin to do this glass justice. Size: 7" diameter; 12 1/2" high. Condition: excellent - just a tiny flake and two flea bites on bottom edge of foot.
Original Manufacturers Flaws: 2 burst bubbles on stem - see pic; annealing marks on stem. This item is in the category "Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Vases". The seller is "quiquam" and is located in this country: US.
